Reviews / Notes:
Black Moon Circle is a psychedelic space rock band from Trondheim, Norway. Since the beginning in early 2014, the band has released 9 albums.
Their latest features ex-Motorpsycho drummer Tomas Järmyr. For the better part of a decade, Black Moon Circle has been churning out lengthy,
heady space rock jams that recall Hawkwind's heavier moments mixed with a healthy portion of modern psych rock. The band, which is made up
of brothers Vemund Engan (baritone guitar) and Øyvin Engan (bass, vocals) is now rounded out by powerhouse drummer Tomas Järmyr (ex-Motorpsycho, Årabrot).
When the world entered lockdown a few years ago, Black Moon Circle decided to make the most of their time. Hunkering down in Nautilus Studio,
the band entered a creative phase of heavy song writing and jamming, colored by fuzz, delays and crazy drum breaks. The resulting album was
once again produced and recorded by the band together with help from synthesizer wizard Scott Heller (a.k.a. Dr Space of the Øresund Space Collective.
The music on Leave The Ghost Behind resembles a tug of war between chaos and order. Black Moon Circle are masters of jamming and improvisation,
playing off each other's strengths and creating veritable whirlpools of sound, but the band also knows how to tame and shape their jams with the necessary structure.
