Reviews / Notes:
With a sound that evokes the spirit of the German kraut and psych rock pioneers, the three musicians from Franconia celebrate exciting,
free-thinking instrumental music on their partly written and improvised songs and have earned themselves a firm place in the international
scene. Their new album will be released on thethree labels TONZONEN (EU), CARDINAL FUZZ (UK) and LITTLE CLOUD RECORDS (US).The
character of all ACID ROOSTER releases is characterized by their respective creation process. For example, the cosmic, swirling “Ad Astra”
was created as a one take during a private garden party. The basic structure of the four tracks on the new album was recorded in July 2022
on two off days of their first UK tour at Dystopia Studios in Glasgow with Scottish producer Jason Shaw. It was only later that the three
childhood friends added overdubs to the tracks recorded live in their adopted home of Leipzig, turning “Hall of Mirrors” into an extremely
multi-layered, very psychedelic soundscape. In addition to guitars and percussion instruments, saxophone, shruti box, synthesizer, mellotron,
flute, vibraphone and much more have been added. Mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Joseph Carra at his Crystal Studios in Australia
(responsible for King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard albums, among others), he was so immersed in the recordings and mesmerized by the
soundscapes that he enthusiastically called producer Jason Shaw to say that he hadn’t had the chance to work on such a melodious and
interesting release for years.
