Band:
Originally founded in the spring of 1996. The name refers to the Dutch word "de ramp" which means "disaster" or "catastrophe".
Between 1997 and 2003, ['ramp] released a string of albums and played a couple of concerts in the Netherlands, the UK, and Germany before Parsick went entirely solo in 2009.
Reviews/Notes:
After a longer creative break, German electronic music performer Stephen Parsick presents the tenth album of his musical enterprise, ['ramp], in order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the very first ['ramp] concert in 1997.
While the music Parsick releases under his own name gravitates more towards experimental drone and dark ambient music, ['ramp] is more firmly rooted in Berlin's electronic subculture of the 1970s.
Drawing heavily from the use of old-fashioned step sequencers, vintage synthesisers from the days of yore, classic analogue keyboards, as well as Mellotron and Rhodes piano, Parsick creates mesmerizing music without employing MIDI, let alone computers.
